Hate, alive and well in America

Posted: September 14, 2007 in All, Blogroll, racism

With Jena 6 going on in America, here is another example of hate and insanity still taking place in America.  My heart is wounded at the fact that people are so hate filled.  I just don’t understand.  Caution, reading the following may cause shallow breathing and rapid heart beat.  A fellow blogger Shyladare found this story.  Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Lured into a house of hate, a black West Virginia woman was raped, choked, stabbed and forced to eat dog and rat feces as her six white tormentors berated her with the N-word, prosecutors said yesterday.

The ghastly week-long ordeal for 20-year-old Megan Williams ended Saturday when she stumbled out of her captors’ shack near Charleston, pleading for help from cops responding to an anonymous tip at the address.

Among those facing hate-crimes prosecution in the gruesome case are two mothers and their two adult children, officials said.

“This seems like outright malice. It’s something you’d see in a horror movie,” said prosecutor Brian Abraham, adding that the FBI was assisting the investigation.

Williams, 20, is in a hospital recovering from days of torture, but she may never recover from the emotional trauma she’s endured, her mother said.

“Every time they stabbed her, they called her ‘n—-r,'” Carmen Williams told The Charleston Gazette. “She wakes up in the middle of the night screaming, ‘Mommy.’ What’s really bad is that we don’t know everything they did to her. She is crying all the time.”

While the Daily News tries to protect the identities of sexual-assault victims, Carmen Williams insisted the press identify her daughter so that the public is “aware that things like that will happen.”

Cops said Megan Williams was intentionally lured into the trap by two people she thought were her friends.

“Apparently once they got her there they planned to do this,” said Logan County Deputy Police Chief V.K. Dingess.

Arrested were Frankie Brewster, 49, and her son Bobby, 24. Also nabbed were Karen Burton, 46; her daughter Alisha, 23; Danny Combs, 20, and George Messer, 27.

Police were searching for two others, who allegedly drove her to the house.

The suspects took turns beating, stabbing, choking and sexually abusing Williams while constantly threatening her with death, according to a criminal complaint.

A rope was placed around Williams’ neck, her hair was ripped out and she was made to eat dog and rat feces, drink from a toilet and lick up blood, the complaint charges. At one point, she was sexually assaulted while scalding water was poured on her body.

She was stabbed in the leg at least four times and both of her ankles were cut by a female suspect who allegedly taunted her, saying, “That’s what we do to n—–s around here.”

“They abused her sexually, stabbed her and probably would have killed her if they had not gotten caught,” said Magistrate Leonard Codispoti.

Today, on the 6th anniversary of 9-11 my heart is quiet in remembrance of the innocent victims of that tragic day, and my  heart bleeds for the evil souls who do not understand the meaning of peace.  My soul lays heavy knowing that their belief is that lost blood will solve all of the problems of the world, not capable of understanding the meaning of compassion.

The evil doers mission is to change and dominate the people of the world. The evil doers will never accept that we were never meant to be the same, and they will never understand that striving for complete dominance will leave them with a restless, empty soul.

On this day, I do not give the power to those that choose to destroy.  I give the power to those who choose to unite, despite our differences.  I give the power to the people of the world who know that before one strives to have power, they first must have compassion, faith, love, acceptance, understanding, and a sense of responsibilty within them.

Today, I say thank you to our hero’s and I pray for those that lead blind lives.  I have faith that someday, these two can come together.

this much….*sigh*

marble echoes of silken gravel

mmmkay. so i have to say there are times i am sooo glad that honey can sing as well as she does. she has this gig tomorrow night where she has to sing a song made famous by gladys knight. shit. gladys knight. she’s not the only one singing, of course… they asked some others, too. (i dont know who “they” is, but there’s always a “they” somewhere, isn’t there.) they asked smokey robinson, johnny mathis, maybe some others, and honey. (okay, they asked me, too, but i declined, if i have to sing “midnight train to georgia” one more time, and get a standing ovation. *yaaaaawn* ) mmmmkay, that list of folk? that is music, friends, those are real singers. if you can step on stage with that mix, you have my respect. don’t matter how underweight you are or how short your shirt is, darlin’, you can’t protools and lip sync yourself through that night, know what i’m sayin?

here’s a(nother) reason to be with honey and her voice: she has to rehearse for those gigs, usually at home a few times first. and i get to sit 6 feet away pretending to blog about something else. hhhmmmm… it’s nice. in her frayed jammie boxers, and washed-thin t-shirt, some biodegradeable slippers, and the cat purring around her legs…. there she stands, belting out a practice session, her corduroy voice clawing its way up the bathroom marble and splashing me with echoes. gravel draped in silk. good heavens, this is free, with a no drink minimum. love love love it.

It can come from out of nowhere,
hit you when you’re safe and warm.
Take it easy, my star your time is gonna come,
your time is gonna come.

Yeah, you got those crazy blue eyes.
You got those crazy blues.
All those pretty smiles,
I can see them laughing at you.
Your time is gonna come, your time is gonna come.

I don’t wanna be your punching bag,
your complacent little princess all tragic and sad.
I’m not gonna let you overwhelm me anymore.
Yeah, you say you got this bad thing, you say you’ve got it bad.
You have broken every heart of every friend you’ve ever had.
Yeah, the time is gonna come when all your friends just go away.
I wonder why you stick around, sometimes I wish you would leave.
You say you love me forever, then you spit on me.
Your time is gonna come,
I swear your time is gonna come.

I don’t want to be your whipping boy.
Yes, your happy little loser, someone you can ignore.
I’m not gonna let you overwhelm me anymore.
I’m not gonna let you hurt me anymore.
I’m not gonna let you hit me anymore.
No, I will not let you kick me anymore.
I will not let you overwhelm me anymore.

It can come from out of nowhere.
I don’t want to be your simple saving grace,
just another little victim with a happy face.
Someday, someday soon, somebody’s gonna come,
I hope they do this to you.

I’m not gonna let you overwhelm me.
I will not let you hurt me anymore.
No, I will not let you hit me anymore.
I will not let you twist me anymore.
No, I will not let you turn me inside out.

There is a new “Madrassa” some call it, academy others call it, public school in NY city that will teach the Arabic language and culture.  People are protesting, and saying it could be teaching religion and there are fears that it will be teaching a radical islamic agenda. I know there are many schools that teach all subjects in spanish, (my son went to one for 4 years).  Is this like that, or do you think that we have reason to be concerned?  Is America trying to create a place to breed future terrorists, or is America trying to teach children to understand the language and culture of the middle east?  What do you think?  Click here to read more about this story.

What is it that creates war? What is it that drives someone to commit murder, rape, and robbery?  What keeps us from achieving peace after 40+ years of fighting for it?  It all boils down to the need for power, the need to be heard, the need to feel important, the need to feel significant and to matter.  The fight for peace has had a re-birth since the war in Iraq started.  But it really came to be in the 1960’s.  After all these years, peace has not conquered the earth.  Why?  Because as long as people are not willing to compromise, to listen, to share the power so that all are equal under the laws of the land, peace will not flourish.  If we want peace, we must start at home.  It won’t happen over night, but with time, peace can prevail if we’re willing to do the work.  Nothing comes easy.  Standing on a street corner with sign that says “peace” will not bring peace.  The people for whom the message is intended don’t give a damn about our signs, because they’re too busy fighting for power, fighting to be heard, fighting to count….or they’re just busy fighting for greed.  Peace can prevail if we open our minds to a new way of thinking.

Peace Out!!!

The following has been passed around through email for several years, so it seems.  However, I just got a hold of it, and loved it.  It is so funny!  If you haven’t seen it, you’ve got to read this.  Enjoy!

The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid term.  The answer by one student was so “profound” that the professor shared it with colleagues,  via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now  have the pleasure of enjoying it as well:

Bonus question:  Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle’s Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant.

One student, however, wrote the following:   First, we need to know  how the mass of  Hell is changing in time.  So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving.  I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave.  Therefore, no souls are leaving.  As for how many souls are entering Hell, let’s look at different religions that exist in the world today.

Most of  these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell.  Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell.  With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially.  Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle’s Law states that in order for the temperature and  pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.

This gives two possibilities:

1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all  Hell breaks loose.

2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.

So, which is it?  If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, “It will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you,” and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number two must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over.  The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct…….leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting, “Oh my God.”
