These bumper stickers are all over cars down here in the south.  It really pisses me off!!!  Ever heard of separation of church and state????  And btw…if you don’t agree with gay marriage, by all means…. DO NOT HAVE ONE!!!!!

Here are some “reason’s” for prohibiting gay marriage.  Which just proves my point that people who think this way are morons to begin with!!!!

Wow! That’s crazy; I usually here the arguement what’s next, marrying dogs? It’s just fear and hate. I love the fact that kids might have too many grandparents; hell, I had seven. I think divorce is the number one problem to marriage not gay marriage. Really, here in CA they’re worried we’ll start teaching about gays in school if we let them marry. Did any one learn about marriage in school? Neither did I. Jerks.

  2. Manymeez says:

Yea, I’ve heard the one about marrying dogs too! I’ve also heard about marrying trees, goats and even kitchen appliances. People are not only ignorant, but scared of their own secret desires.

Click on the link I posted and read the top ten list as to why gay marriage is a bad idea. Teaching homosexual marriage in school IS actuallly one of the reasons.

    thanks for the comment!

You know what I don’t care if my neighbor wants to marry an elephant it should be her right.

  4. liz says:

i’m with amanda! if anyone wants to marry an elephant, it is their right! 🙂 that was funny…but seriously, that link you posted… omg…written by a freaking idiot! jesus! unbelievable. and scary.

  5. Manymeez says:

well, I don’t know about marrying an elephant…but I’m feeling rather affectionate about my espresso machine! hmmmmm…..

Seriously though, I just can’t grasp what the big deal is if two consenting adults are in love and want to share their lives together and be afforded all human rights given to every heterosexual married couple. If my partner is lying in a hospital bed, I’ll be damned if anyone will tell me I can’t be by their side!!! These basic human rights have absolutely nothing to do with religion, but it has everything to do with feeling compassion for another human being!!! damn it!

  6. Jane says:

Wow, I read that link, and I agree — they are morons. Fearful, hateful, dumb, and dogmatic is not a good combination.

On the bright side, they’re on their way out.

  7. Katherine says:

Silly wabbits thinking you know what’s belong with you know what’s. Don’t they know he’s just a cartoon?

Luckily, I don’t see a lot of that here, Gia. Even though I’m in deep republican country. I’d probably go off on someone.

  8. cholegal says:

Oh man, I don’t want to have to keep defending Gay marriage and I totally agree with you. If you aren’t pro-gay marriage, then don’t have one. People don’t understand. Just keep your cool ok! take care

I would say: Well, I live n Canada and we have that right.
    However;
If our PM (Harper) gets his majority next week, you can bet your bottom dollar that he will attempt to have that overturned. The 10s of 1000s of gay couples who have been married for the past six years- have had children with full adoptive rights without a fight, have been there in the hospitals with their dying husband or wife with the full right to decide what to do post-mortum without a fight with the rest of the family; poof. their rights gone. it makes no sense to me that we can go backwards after the decision has ALREADY been made. And MOST of Canada could give a shit; I would say 75% of Canadians are NOT bothered by gay rights of marriage. Even Conservatives.
At any rate- after ten years together- my partner and I remain living in sin. We’re very 80s that way. We have no intent to marry. We’re more the Susan Sarandon/ Tim Robbins or Goldie & Kurt-type. 🙂

  10. NoHypocrisy says:

So if there is so much support for people to live how they want, and sleep with how they want, what do people on here think about consenting adult plural marriage situations?

  11. Manymeez says:

Thanks for the question. I’ve heard that a lot. My thought is, the laws as they are right now do not bring religion into marriage. Just that 2 people can marry, and in the eyes of the law they are considered related and can make decisions for eachother, get tax breaks, share children (even adopted ones) equally….etc. It’s basically a domestic partnership. The law does not say only people of the same race, or of the opposite sex can marry. The laws clearly state that only 2 people can marry, and there are laws against plural marriages.

Gays and lesbians are not asking for the law to be bent into ridiculousness. We are asking for EQUAL rights. If the law changes, and it says that a man can now have more than one wife….Then if a gay man wants more than one husband, he should be allowed. But, as the laws stand right now….denying a gay couple the right to marry is taking away rights of a citizen of this great Country, and it is not treating that person equally.

The arguments given for taking away basic human rights of gays and lesbians are, in my opinion, the same kinds of reasons that were given as to why women or black people couldn’t vote, or black people couldn’t serve in the military, or black people couldn’t participate in pro sports, or even why men make more money than women. The arguments are not only out of fear, but because people have strong religious convictions that it is a sin. But our laws clearly state that there is to be a separation of church and state.

    Anyway, that’s my humble opinion….

    Morons indeed.
I suppose that a bumper sticker indicating TOP/BOTTOM would be a bad idea then ? huh….

  13. Simon says:

and when people’s strong religious convictions becomes the reason to make life for other people hell here on earth their whole religious argument gets destroyed in itself… in the end, treating minorities as minor people is a fascist thing… have a look on the results of the last elections here in austria…
